After the announcement back in September alongside the iPhone 6s, iPad mini 4 and new Apple TV – Apple also unveiled a big new iPad, the iPad Pro aimed mostly at graphic designers, productivity without a laptop and as pictured full screen immersive gaming.

Features

We’ll just go over a few of the main features and specs, this iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch display with the ability to accept pressure from the stylus Apple is selling dubbed the Apple Pencil, it’s fully laminated like the iPad Air 2. What powers the iPad Pro is most impressive, Apple is saying that the A9X chip is 80% more powerful than most laptops and can edit three streams of 4K video on iMovie simultaneously, it’s also rumoured that it has 4GB RAM.

With previous iPads, one big gripe with most people is that no matter how you old it, you’re somehow blocking the speakers – that’s because on previous iPads the speakers have been at the base near the Lighting connector, the iPad Pro has four speakers; two on the top and two on the bottom, software is also included which knows how you are holding the iPad and will automatically adjust the bass and treble to sound better.

Accessories

Apple is also selling some pretty pricey accessories with the iPad, first up is the Smart Keyboard, essentially a keyboard cover for £139/$169 which doesn’t use Bluetooth but a connector on the iPad.

Also the Apple Pencil, a pressure sensitive stylus for drawing and writing, it charges using a connector in the cap which plugs into the iPad Pro. It’s also included with an extra tip.

Pricing and availability

The iPad Pro is now available to purchase on the Apple website and it’s pricey, coming in at £679 for 32GB for the base model, no 16GB model here and also a 128GB version for £799 and 128GB with added Cellular connectivity for £899. Orders are live now at apple.com and deliveries should start arriving in a few days on November 13.
