Microsoft’s Surface lineup has really rocketed the hybrid and 2-in-1 PC market into the mainstream, although previous marketing stunts such as the one with the NBA havent succeeded quite as well as the Microsoft PR team might have hoped the Surface tablets are still doing well and despite the price they are very competent machines. But now Microsoft is deciding the discontinue the cheaper Surface 3 tablet from the lineup this December.

Microsoft confirmed the news ZDNet last week that the smaller Surface 3 wont be sold any longer. Now however what should replace the less expensive model – Microsoft already has the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book which even at the base price are quite expensive, so a Surface 4 may be in the works. But with the new Windows 10 Anniversary Update coming soon, the attention at Microsoft may be circling around that.
