iPhone 7. After months of speculating in the tech community, Apple has finally unveiled the next generation of the world’s most popular phone and the 10th iPhone ever, despite the name. In short there isn’t a 3.5mm headphone jack anymore, there are new colours and much better cameras.
So, iPhone 7
So earlier today Apple unveiled the 10th iPhone to the world, the iPhone 7. Many rumours over the last few months have been speculating just what Apple is going to do, the main consensus was that it would have no headphone port and as we have seen – this is true. Instead in it’s place we have stereo speakers for the first time on a iPhone. Apple is still offering EarPods in the box only with a Lightning port as opposed to the older 3.5mm jack.
There are some upsides to using Lightning vs 3.5mm for audio, according to Apple. It offers direct power to noise cancelling earbuds, before this these types of headphones would require an external battery to be powered.
A10 Fusion
This wouldn’t be a new iPhone without some serous innovation in the processor department and the iPhone 7 is no different. The new iPhone is powered by the new A10 Fusion quad-core processor. The A10 is still 64-bit and includes two high performance cores and two high efficiency cores which are used for low power tasks, such as checking email – helping the phone save battery.
Cameras
With the iPhone 7, the cameras are also all new. The new camera is still 12MP but features a larger aperture – at f/1.8 and features a six element lens. The True Ton flash now has 4 LED lights for brighter dark photos.
With the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s the larger plus models always had optical image stabilisation and the smaller 4.7-inch model missed out on this. Now with iPhone 7 the smaller iPhone now gets this feature. The iPhone 7 Plus also gains an extra 12MP sensor over the smaller variant, this enables a much improved zoom. Offend 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.
When can I get iPhone 7?
Pre-orders will be starting this Friday, which is September 9th. A week later on September 16th it will be available to buy, costing from £599 for the 4.7-inch model and from £719 for the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. Colours available are Black, Jet Black, Gold, Silver and Rose Gold.
