Whats new?

We do have a video at the end of the post from a respected YouTuber but Apple is focusing on a lot of features in this new release. Below are the top few features that are new in iOS 10.

Messages

In iOS 10 Apple has introduced a host of new ways to interact with friends and family in Messages. Apple have added rich links in line the message, allowing you to see part of a web link within Messages before clicking. Emoji are now three times bigger and pictures can have various effects such as invisible ink, allowing a user to send a picture blurred and then the recipient have to rub it out.

Home app

In iOS 8, Apple introduced HomeKit – a platform built into iOS which helped bring all the smart home devices together to be managed by Siri. Now in iOS 10 Apple has built upon this with the new Home app which is preinstalled. It offers easy and quick access to all your HomeKit devices.

For this to work, you will need one or more devices with HomeKit enabled. Such devices are Phillips Hue lightbulbs, the Canary Security System and a large number of iDevices products. Home has a new mode called Scenes – when configured this will enable a large amount of automation, also it will be possible to click “Good morning” and several things will happen, the kettle could switch on, blinds open and hot water switch on.

Delete (some) stock apps

Apple have now added a feature to allow users to delete stock apps even though they don’t take up much space – in total around 150MB. However this doesn’t actually remove the app from your iPhone – just in effect turning it off on the screen.

Apple Music

Apple Music has proven very popular for Apple and now as the service has been out since last year and the UI was becoming quite complicated, in iOS it has been reimagined. It boasts a bright design with bolder fonts, also added are song lyrics.
