Windows as a platform has long been the go to choice for gamers and with Windows 10 Microsoft seriously focused on new features and improvements for our target market, gamers. Although some people have complained that while the new features of Windows 10 are really good, some performance has taken a hit, to combat this Microsoft is adding a “Game Mode” to Windows 10.

What’s the new Game Mode?

So when Windows 10 was launched, some kickback arose regarding performance on some games. Microsoft is now addressing these issues with the upcoming “Game Mode.”

This new feature was first noticed by WalkingCat (@h0x0d) on Twitter.

According to Windows Central– The Xbox platform has had a very similar feature for a while now, when a game is launched – all the hardware resources are allocated to make sure the games runs the best it can. Until this announcement – Windows has never had anything like this.

What was added in Windows 10 for gamers?

When Windows 10 was launched in July 2015, Microsoft integrated the Xbox app so you have once place to download new games, add friends and stream from a local Xbox on the network, while this does sound slightly pointless if you have Steam – Microsoft is hoping that this might be an alternative, but this will defiantly be a long way off as the Windows Store doesn’t have enough games yet.

One way Microsoft is kick starting this is with Xbox Cross Play, one of the most notable new games that has been added is Forza Horizon 3, buy once digitally and you can play on Windows 10 and Xbox One all while syncing the game progress. You can even compete with players on PC if you play Xbox.
