In December, the US Navy announced it was banning the use of TikTok on government issues phones and devices, due to the concern that it could affect personal information and banning the use of the social network would help “safeguard their personal information.” – according to Lieutenant Colonel Uriah Orland from the US Navy.

Now the US Army is the latest American military department to ban the Chinese owned social network, military.com spoke to Lt. Col. Robin Ochoa regarding the ban who said that TikTik is “considered a cyber threat” to the Army and that soldiers were notified in December to delete TikTok.

Why ban it?

The concern is that the considering TikTok is Chinese owned, it may have ways of the Chinese government to influence people and or gain information from people.
