Another week has gone by and it’s time, once again to go over the best stories we covered here on A&T Tech.

In the news this week, CES dominated the news, but other things happened too, we had HomeKit support finally added to the IKEA smart blinds, we learnt that the Apple TV app will be added to some Sony and Vizio TVs later this year, Rivan and Lamboghini vehicles will be getting built in Alexa sometime this year, Netatmo unveiled a new HomeKit smart lock which uses NFC keys, former HBO CEO is going to be making Apple TV+ shows and also the Volkswagen Up! GTI has relaunched after being dropped from sale eight months ago.

Rivian and Lamborghini will get Alexa integration this year

By the end of 2020, both of Rivan’s models, the R1T and R1S will get native Alexa support to do things like take calls, control the sat-nav, the air-conditioning and heating system as well as open and close the electric windows. Lamborghini will only get support for the new Huracán Evo range by the end of 2020.

New Netatmo smart lock uses NFC keys

Smart locks are very popular, but sometimes having only your phone to open them can prevent an option and also if yours has physical keys, if you lose one you need to get them re-cut and so on. The new smart lock from Netatmo uses HomeKit for its smarts, but also has physical keys which have NFC integrated, meaning you can recode the keys if one gets lost.

Volkswagen Up! GTI is now back on sale

Volkswagen discontinued the Up GTI here in the UK eight months ago and now for 2020, it is back on sale albeit now £15,885 for the same model, which was £13,750 before. New car has the new VW logo, active lane assist as standard and the same 1.0-litre 113bhp engine.

Former HBO CEO signs deal with Apple TV+ for five years

Former HBO CEO, Richard Plepler has signed a five year contract with Apple to produce new shows, films and more for Apple TV+. Plepler left in February last year just around sixth months after HBO was acquired by AT&T, he was at HBO 27 years.
