Another week has gone by and it’s time, once again to go over the best stories we covered here on A&T Tech.

In the news this week, the iPad turned ten years old, Apple had an amazing quarter for Q4 and now has 1.4 billion active devices worldwide, Volkswagen could be fined £110 million by Canadian prosecutors, The Beastie Boys have a new documentary on Apple TV+ coming soon and the German government has failed to move from Windows 7 before support ended and now has to pay Microsoft a hefty amount for extended support.

The iPad turned ten this week

On Monday this week, it was the ten year anniversary of the original Apple iPad launch back in 2010 which was conduced by CEO at the time, Steve Jobs. At this time, the operating system was also renamed from iPhone OS now that the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad were running a very similar operating system. The 1st generation iPad shipped with iOS 4.

German government didn’t upgrade to Windows 10 in time, from Windows 7

Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14th and the German government has around 33,000 computers running Windows 7 still that weren’t upgraded to Windows 10. For extended support, the German government now has to pay Microsoft $887,000 for extended support.

Canadian prosecutors are looking to fine Volkswagen £110 million

In December last year, Volkswagen was fined for importing 128,000 cars into Canada which were above the emissions level. Canadian prosecutors proposed a fine of $196.5 million (CAD) after Volkswagen pleaded guilty to diesel emissions violations.

Apple had its Q4 earnings call this week and at the same time the company announced that it now has 1.4 billion active devices worldwide
