A few years ago, Google stopped supporting the desktop version of Google Earth and instead just had a web based version of Google Earth which had a lot of features, but not everything. It also said at that time that support would not just be for Chrome, but for other browsers too.
As of this week, Google Earth web version now works on Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Opera. Google has said support for Apple Safari is in the pipeline and will be coming in the future.
