Alfa Romeo has been a bit quiet since the new Gulia saloon and the Stelvio SUV were introduced a few years ago but this week, in the absence of the actual motor show in Geneva, Alfa Romeo have launched a new special edition of the Gulia with much more power, a very similar concept to the Jaguar XE Project 7 that Jaguar did a few years back, a stripped down saloon car with more power, track day accessories and interior changes.

The new Guilia GTA is now the most powerful car Alfa has come out with, at 533bhp, which is a 30bhp increase over the standard car. The GTA has the same 2.9-litre V6 from the already very powerful Quadrifoglio. Alfa has now added a new titanium Akrapovic exhaust to get the extra power, as well as some calibrations.

On the outside, the Guila is now lighter and has a lot more aero to make it look more aggressive. The Guilia GTA is 100kg lighter than the standard car, thanks to a carbon fibre bonnet, roof, front bumper, front wheel arches, rear arch inserts and even the driveshaft too.

The car is also wider by 50mm for better stance on the road.

Alfa Romeo will only be producing 500 units, with prices expected to be around £100,000
