Alfa Romeo has confirmed that later this year, the Giulietta hatchback will be dropped from the product line, after ten years on sale. The head of product marketing at Alfa Romeo, Fabio Migliavacca said that the

“Giulietta is expected to finish its life at the end of this year. The trend is to have SUVs in the C-segment, so the Tonale SUV will be the replacement for Giulietta.”

The Giulietta was launched back in 2010 and has never really had a interior style upgrade to bring it up to date with its class rivals from Volkswagen, Ford and Seat. The interior has always seemed a bit out of date in recent years and the sales figures have reflected that. In 2011, 78,911 were sold in Europe and in 2019, only 15,690 were sold.

As mentioned in the above quote, the Giulietta won’t be updated, instead the company is killing off the model this year and replacing with the upcoming Tonale SUV.

The Tonale will be a plug-in hybrid, a first from Alfa Romeo and there isn’t a launch date for it yet.
