The new OnePlus 8 Pro has been unveiled, it is one of the fastest Android phones on the market – starting at a respectable £799

Design

The OnePlus 8 Pro is available in three striking colour variants: Ultramarine blue, glacial green and oynx black.

The size of this phone may put some people off, it has a 6.78-inch screen and only a small amount of people will be able to use it one handed. However, this is not a problem for people who prefer bigger phones.

For the first time, OnePlus phones come with an official water resistance rating. The OnepPlus 8 Pro is backed by an IP68 rating.

Display

The OnePlus 8 Pro packs a brilliant 6.78-inch QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, giving you a smooth and effortless scrolling experience. A 10-bit colour display features 64 times more colours than previous versions, this means it can deliver ultra-high colour accuracy for a true-to-life viewing experience. HDR boosts shadow and highlight details while gaming or watching videos.

The display is bright even in sunlight, it reaches 1300 nits. This means you should have no trouble in seeing onscreen content. The addition of the polarised display helps to reduce glare and reflections. The display has been rated an A+ from DisplayMate and an SGS Eye Care Display Certification.

5G capability

The OnePlus 8 Pro is shipped 5G ready. It also has the ability to switch between 5G and non-5G networks to help extend battery life.

The device runs off the snapdragon 865 chip, which is the latest and most powerful chip from Qualcomm.

Fast Charging

The device can be charged with Warp Charge 30 Wireless or Warp Charge 30T. Both of these technologies ensure your phone charges fast enough you wont be waiting around.

Warp Charge 30 Wireless can charge from 1% to 50% in half an hour. The OnePlus 8 Pro can also share its charge with reverse wireless charging. However you will need to buy the OnePlus wireless charging pad for this to work, normal Qi chargers will charge this device much slower.

Warp Charge 30T can give you 50% power in just 23 minutes, you can do this straight ut of the box as OnePlus includes the charger in the box.

The device has a massive 4510 mAh battery to keep you going all day.

Cameras

The OnePlus 8 Pro has a quadruple camera set up – the 48 MP main camera is accompanied by a 48 MP Ultra Wide camera with 120° field of view. There is also a 5MP colour filter camera with a photo chrome filter and an 8MP Hybrid Zoom camera with 30x digital zoom and optical image stabilisation.

The device can record Dynamic videos which capture more detail in back lit scenes with improved video stabilisation.

Nightscape 3.0 allows you to take clear photos even when in limited light. With improved multi-frame technology you can easily capture what is around you.

Smart pet capture will identify when you are snapping a photo of your pooch, and will automatically adjust the camera settings to create the perfect snapshot.

The 16MP front camera is enclosed in the hole-punch cutout in the display and is capable of portrait mode.
