Emissions regulations are forever being tightened as we slowly move towards the deadline of 2030 for the ban of combustion based cars on sale, one of the latest victims is the Skoda Kodiaq vRS, this powerful SUV has a 237bhp twin-turbo diesel engine and it exceeds the emissions targets levels, therefore the Kodiaq vRS has been taken off sale, for now.

Skoda has said that production will slowly decrease but once the Kodiaq is facelifted at some stage, the vRS version will come back with a new engine, probably not diesel this time as some car manufacturers are moving away from diesel.

Interestingly, Skoda has also said that the Kodiaq wont have a PHEV version in the lineup, at least not in the “foreseeable future” – even though the brand new Octavia vRS is offered as a PHEV variant.
