Earlier this week, Apple announced the new M1 chip for Mac, and it is already in the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13-inch and Mac mini. Apps do need to be updated to support the new models, otherwise they’ll be emulated using Rosetta 2 and earlier this week Microsoft has released the first beta of Office for Mac with support for the new chips.
Learn more here about the Office beta channel.
MSFT plans to push a Universal build of Mac Office 2019 to the Beta Channel (formerly “Insider Fast”) by the end of today.
We don’t have a public date or version for a final release; this is an initial peek for customers to test on hardware they may be acquiring this week… 🙂
