Today, JLR has introduced a new V8 version of the Land Rover Defender, with the same engine as the Jaguar F-Type, Range Rover Sport with 518bhp and 461lb ft torque. The V8 Defender is on sale from today with pricing at £98,505 for the 90 and £101,150 for the five-door 110.

Thanks to the much more powerful engine, it can now do 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 149mph.  Land Rover has taken the opportunity to change the styling too, less rugged and very sporty, with blue front brake callipers, housed in 22-inch wheels and out the back, quad piped exhausts. Inside, gone are the sensible outdoorsy materials, instead the steering wheel is now Alcantara as opposed to the normal leather. The paddle shifters are also now chrome finished.

V8 badging has been added to the wings, and skid plates.

Some internal upgrades debut on the V8 Defender, such as a 60% larger touchscreen for the Pivi Pro infotainment, now 11.4-inches with support for CarPlay as well as wireless phone charging and a signal booster.

The V8 Defender is on sale now, starting at £98,505 for the 90.
