Volkswagen’s new Tiguan R is now on sale starting this week, with prices starting at £45,915. The Tiguan R was announced at the tail end of 2020 and was left with a date of release for 2021 and now it is on sale in the UK. The Tiguan R now joins the Golf R, Touareg R and Arteon R in the company’s ever increasing performance arm line of products.

The Tiguan R naturally sits at the top of the range and has 316bhp, can do 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 155mph. The engine is a 2.0-litre affair, the same engine found in the latest Golf R and the Tiguan R shares a lot of the new improvements Volkswagen added with the latest Golf R, such as torque vectoring all-wheel drive.

Inside, the Tiguan R is like most of the high end models of the car with wireless Apple CarPlay, VW’s own We Connect which offers live traffic information and more. In the centre console, the connectivity is up to date with two UBC Type C ports.

Options include a sports steering wheel and a 480W 10 speaker Harman Kardon sounds system.
