Back in June last year, right at the very start of the announcement for Apple’s own silicon for Macs, the company announced the DTK for developers to help them transition to the new line of Macs which were announced late last year.

The DTK Mac mini had the A12Z chip, from the current iPad Pro, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, two USB-C ports, one HDMI port an two legacy USB-A ports.

The program for developers cost $500 up front and once the Mac mini is returned back to Apple, the full $500 will be refunded back. But Apple is now requiring developers to return the unit before 31st March 2021, the credit will be provided as Apple Store credit which can be used to purchase a new product from the Apple Store.
