In the last few days, Volkswagen has announced its new range topper for the ID lineup of electric cars, with the ID.6. The ID.6 sits above the new ID.4 SUV and will only be offered for sale in China as well as being produced only in China. The car offers seating for up to seven people and will go on sale later this year.

Like the ID.4, the ID.6 sits on the same scalable EV platform, MEB and will come in two different versions, the ID.6 Crozz and the ID.6 X with the latter having some more rugged design elements but both cars will be identical underneath, with the same batteries, motors and range.

Both cars will come with a 58kWh or 77kWh battery, identical to the new Enyaq from Skoda. The 58kWh battery offers 271 miles of range, with the 77kWh offering 365 miles, this is according to the NEDC testing methods in China. Motor wise, the standard ID.6 trim comes with 177bhp or 201bhp. Bumping up even higher, is the option of the 301bhp motor which will only be available on the 77kWh battery.

The new ID.6 Crozz and ID.6 X will go on sale in China later this year, with prices unconfirmed at this stage.
