The governor in New York has recently signed a bill to now require all ISPs in the state to provide broadband at a capped price at a minimum speed too. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has said that the maximum price ISPs can change for low income households is $15 per month and for a minimum download speed of 25Mbps, or if the current speeds are faster than that is the new minimum for them.

Over 2.7 millon households in New York will qualify for this and the current average monthly price is $50. In some areas in the centre of the city, the broadband is typically faster so the deal there will be 200mbps for $20 per month.
