Since Apple opened up the Find My network for third party devices, before the launch of the AirTag – there has been three companies with compatible devices that work with the large existing Find My network. One of the products is the Chipolo ONE Spot which was announced before the AirTag and works in a very similar way, it just lacks Ultra Wideband support.

For 90% of the intended purpose of a Find My connected device tracker, the Chipolo seems to have most of it covered, it harnesses the largeness of the Apple ecosystem, it pops up in the Find My app on iOS, iPadOS and macOS and best of all, it has a hole built in for keyrings etc, which is something the AirTag doesn’t have.

Chipolo is even undercutting Apple on prices, one Chipolo ONE Spot comes in at $28 / £28, AirTag is $29 / £29 and a pack of four is $90 / £90 for Chipolo and $99 / £99 for AirTag.

The Chipolo ONE Spot can be pre ordered now, with deliveries starting next month.
