Due to the ongoing pandemic, the IFA show has been canceled again for the second year running. The event was canceled in 2020 at the height of the pandemic and canceled this year due to what the event’s organisers called “global health uncertainties”.

The event was supposed to take place this year in September in Berlin and this news might swing the decision of what happens to MWC Barcelona which is due to take place between 28th June to the 1st July 2021. The event organisers are currently offering a hybrid option and attendees can choose to visit in person or virtually. Samsung, Nokia and other companies have already said they wont be visiting MWC in person this year.

“Unfortunately, the latest public health developments introduced too much risk into everybody’s planning for the event. There simply are now too many uncertainties. Therefore, right now it has become near impossible for anyone to responsibly plan their participation in any trade show.”

Kai Hillebrandt, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH
