The new hybrid only Honda HR-V has recently gone on sale here in the UK, with prices starting at £26,960, for the Elegance model. In terms of size, the HR-V looks quite large in photos, but it competes with the Nissan Juke and uses the petrol and electric system that is in the new Jazz, which itself is also now hybrid only too. The engine in the HR-V and the Jazz is a 1.5-litre petrol engine, working in conjunction with a pair of electric motors, however in the HR-V it produces a combined 120bhp and 187lb ft torque, a bit more than the Jazz.

In the HR-V the electric motors drive the car most of the time, with the engine just being a generator – like the new LEVC Taxi. This system gets a quoted 52.3mph on the WLTP standard.

At the entry level Elegance, for £26,960 you get LED headlights, heated front seats, 18-inch wheels, as standard, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bumping up to the Advance gets you an electronic boot lid, heated steering wheel and synthetic leather upholstery for £29,210. At the top fo the range is the Advance Style which adds a better sound system, orange interior trim as well as two tone paint for £31,660.

Inside is a large 9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the driver gets a 7-inch TFT display in the binnacle.

The new HR-V can be ordered now and will be available to customers later this year.
