Mercedes has announced the all new EQA small SUV, its second all electric car so far following on from the larger EQC. The EQA is about the same size as the BMW X2 and is set to compete with the Audi Q2, Jaguar E-Pace but their electric versions of this size car are a while away.

The new car is only available in one spec, with the EQA 250 had has a 66.5kWh battery pack and the electric motor produces 188bhp. 0-60mph is a reasonable 8.9 seconds and the top speed is 99mph. Range according to Mercedes, is 302 miles

The Mercedes EQA will go on sale here in the UK starting in February. Mercedes hasn’t released any official prices for this market yet, but prices start at €47,540.50 in Europe, £42,000 when converted.

Despite just the one motor available, Mercedes has other trims of the EQA, with Progressive, Electric Art and AMG Line. Progressive comes with leather sports steering wheel, electric tailgate and a colour ambient lighting system. The Electric Art model adds illuminated tread plates as well as rose gold piping on the seats.

The AMG Line adds 18-inch alloy wheels, AMG styling throughout, AMG floor mats and stainless steel pedals.
